This February the teachers at Institut Edeline educated the students about the fruits and vegetables grown in the garden. Tending a garden teaches many healthy behaviors that are hopefully also shared in the student's home life. Using gardens as outdoor classrooms, the children learn valuable lessons about nutrition, and the environment. Haiti has experienced many ecological challenges from deforestation, soil erosion, and the ravages of natural disasters. These lead to critical environmental situations and it’s important to educate students on how to take care of the land and their bodies. These organic fruits and veggies they have grown are fresh and plentiful filling up many tables in the classroom. There's a wonderful sense of accomplishment from watching these vegetables to grow.
